Cebu: Micasa Garden

This was our first vacation for 2024, and it was one much-needed short trip as I had been swamped with work last December and as soon as 2024 opened.

Micasa offers tents and teepees. My original reservation was for November last year, but because we had a hectic year-end, I rebooked twice, and the owner reminded me that rebooking could be done only once. Thus, I made sure to rebook this January.

Our Accommodation

This was our room, which was called Sambag. It’s supposed to have two beds, but I asked them to join the beds.

I’ve stayed in several teepees before, and this is a little cramped but still comfortable.

Rate: P1,800 per room per night
Inclusion: room only, no meals

I love its balcony, which was Hobbes’s favorite spot because the inside of the room was hot even when it’s air-conditioned.

These are the other teepees of Micasa.

Picnic Set-up

They charge P300 for this. I saw the set-up on their Facebook page, and it was lovely. However, this setup was done poorly because the one on their social media pages showed a setup with more throw pillows, flowers, decor, and furniture. I did not complain, though, since the two days of our 3-day stay were cloudy, and I didn’t want to have a picnic if the weather was dreary.

This one was the set-up of our neighboring teepee. They checked in on our last day. Again, this was not as impressive as what was posted on their Facebook page.

My Meals
As usual, I survived by cooking canned goods or processed food, most of which just required heating or frying. Heh.

If you noticed that I posted only a few meals for a 3-day stay, it’s because I also brought two small boxes of pizza and a pan of lasagna, which sustained me on my first two days. Ha ha!

The Views
The best views were from its restaurant, which was unavailable during our stay.

The caretaker said the restaurant (Kuyang Café) ceased operations right after the New Year, which was unfortunate, especially for travelers like me who don’t like cooking.

On a positive note, we had the place to ourselves because they had many diners when the restaurant was open.

The Garden

The plants here were mostly ornamental, not flowering plants, but they were well-maintained. Be careful going around, though, because some of the areas were slippery.

Views at Night

Again, the views from the restaurant are beautiful! I’ve seen photos of the sunset from the same area, but the weather was not cooperative during our stay, so I did not have good sunset photos taken from Micasa.

Beside the restaurant was a lighted canopy, which would have been a lovely outdoor dining venue if only the restaurant were open.

My favorite evening shot is of our teepee.

We were there a week after Christmas, so some Christmas lanterns were still among their decorations.

Other amenities
One of the cons I consider is their toilet and shower. While near the teepees, it can be challenging to get here, especially at night.

I also found them not well-maintained. Still, it’s nice that the showers had a heater because it’s a must for places like this.

Since they had no restaurant, the owner said we could use the kitchen. Unfortunately, they were not well-maintained, too.

The cooking wares were okay, but the plates, especially the wooden ones, were dirty.

I made sure to get just one set and cleaned them thoroughly with the dishwashing and disinfectant liquid I brought. Yeah, I know, I’m OC. I kept this same set in my room and used it throughout my stay.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m OC but not finicky. I stayed in several Airbnbs that required me to cook, but these accommodations (Sundaze Farm, Gig Valley Villa, Gray Stone Farm, Jamme’s Campsite) provided clean and Instagrammable plates and cutleries.

Micasa also had a jacuzzi, but I did not use it because it was just too cold during most of our stay.

A bonfire can be arranged, too, but again, we did not use this.

Pet-Friendly
Hobbes and I had been to many pet-friendly accommodations in Cebu, so it was challenging to find new ones, so I was happy to find Micasa Garden.

Since it was mostly cloudy, I kept Hobbes inside our room most of the time because a wet outdoors means dirty paws for Hobbes, and I didn’t want to keep cleaning his paws each time we went inside our teepee.

When the weather improved, we enjoyed walking around and taking photos.

Hobbes was particularly taken by the peanut grass.

He kept rolling and posing in them. I made sure he didn’t destroy them, though, and he didn’t, as maybe he was too light to cause damage.

A last word
This would have been a comfortable accommodation if only they maintained it well. I would not return, but if you need quick and affordable accommodation from Cebu City, this is it. Just bring your own cutleries or ready-to-reheat food.

Micasa is in Paril, Cebu City. Contact them via their official Facebook page or message at +63917-157-1156 or +63918-917-6593.
